Historical Significance:
Strawberry School is the oldest one‑room schoolhouse made of logs in Arizona and is preserved today. It was built in 1885 but abandoned in 1916 after falling in disrepair. Since 2005, after its restoration, the site has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The marker reads, “The Arizona Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in keeping with the National Society tenets of patriotic endeavor, historic preservation, and education, recognizes the brave pioneers who established this oldest existing log school house in Arizona, and the people who later preserved it. 1993.”
